2020 Map of Inequality
 
In a year of municipal elections, Casa Fluminense launches the Map of Inequality and the new edition of the 2030 Rio Agenda. The publications include proposals of ten themes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are: housing, employment, transport, security, sanitation, health, education, culture, social assistance and public management. Portfolio: Climate Policy and Outreach
Purpose of the grant: To mitigate the impacts of climate change on the rights of children and adolescents in Brazil, through articulation with the justice system. The project will focus on the damage to the health of children and adolescents caused by air pollution, whether in large urban centers or in the Amazon. Mobilization campaigns and strategic actions will be carried out to involve government and businesses.

Centro de Inteligencia Territorial (CIT)
Duration: 12 months
Portfolio: Land Use and Food Systems
Purpose of the grant: To access the accountability level of environmental infractions in the state of Para, as well as the level of effectiveness of the command and control actions against deforestation. The goal is to propose improved mechanisms of inspection and accountability of violators, to reduce the cost of operations and to increase the impact of command and control actions to reduce deforestation in the state.

Purpose of the grant: To enhance strategic climate communications in Brazil, with an online focus and in supporting cultural institutional changes, through three fronts: Mapping influencers / networks active in communication during emblematic climate events in 2019/2020, strategic support for innovation to organisations; and piloting a climate opinion survey in Brazil inspired by Yale's Climate Opinion Maps.

Purpose of the grant: Building consensus between the private sector, public regulators and civil society to advance the Brazilian Emissions Reduction Market (MBRE) regulation by proposing a specific legislation that offers legal certainty to MBRE stakeholders, advancing carbon pricing implementation in Brazil through market instruments.

Instituto de Pesquisa Ambiental da Amazônia (IPAM)
Duration: 18 months

Purpose of the grant: To develop fire scar maps of the Brazilian biomes between 1985 and 2020, improving the database of Mapbiomas platform. The indiscriminate use of fire is one of the main vectors of environmental degradation, causing biodiversity loss, increasing the emissions and respiratory diseases. Mapping fire scars will allow to increase the level of environmental accountability.

Centro de Empreendedorismo da Amazonia (CEA)
Duration: 12 months
Portfolio: Low Carbon Economy
Purpose of the grant: To pilot and learn how to operate and empower Amazon communities with 4.0 technologies. Establish the first itinerant Creative Laboratory of the Amazon (LCA), with 4.0 technologies on board and carry out the first field expedition of the laboratory in the community of Belterra in partnership with the Association of Rural Women Workers of the Municipality of Belterra (Amabela) - Pará.

Portfolio: Climate Policy and Outreach
Purpose of the grant: To develop a monitoring tool (called Placar) of federal actions and narratives in the social-environmental field. This tool will use artificial intelligence to assess the political risks of the referred actions and narratives. Placar aims to equip CSOs so that they can quickly respond to attacks and better understand the political impact of legal actions against climate policies.

Purpose of the grant: To qualify candidacies and mandates, especially of female leaders that prioritise the climate agenda in their electoral platforms in 2020. The project has two strands: (i) Inspirational - by disseminating the Latin American case studies on climate campaigns; (ii) Connection - promoting meetings between Legislative local cabinets and CSOs.
