Portfolio: Low Carbon Economy
Purpose of the grant: Expand the reach and influence of Convergence for Brazil with the coordination and engagement of the former ministers who are the signatories of the initiative. The objective is to expand alliances and partnerships in order to influence the public agenda and influence the decisions of high-level leaders. A governance model will be developed for the future of Convergence as a think-tank focused on the decarbonization of the economy.

Instituto Democracia e Sustentabilidade
Duration: 18 months
Portfolio: Low Carbon Economy
Purpose of the grant: Coordination of private and political actors for the development of guidelines for a National Policy of Development for the Green Economy in Brazil and a proposition for the Brazilian Green Taxonomy that enables the fiscal classification of activities linked to the green economy and guides public policies and investments.

Movimento de Pimpadores
Duration: 12 months
Portfolio: Low Carbon Economy
Purpose of the grant: Pilot program that intends to produce evidence regarding the benefits of the electrification of the carts used by collectors of recyclable materials, increasing their collection and efficiency capacity and improving their working conditions and income. Also, supporting the expansion of partnerships to enable the scalability of the prototypes being developed.

Centro Brasil no Clima
Duration: 22 months
Portfolio: Climate Policy
Purpose of the grant: The project will stimulate climate ambition through the 2022 electoral debate, strengthening the coordination of governors in order to advance subnational policies and their implementation in the states. The project will expand the implementation capacity of the Brazilian NDC and the green economic recovery, in addition to encouraging dialogue with strategic sectors of society and international actors.

Instituto Internacional de Políticas Públicas
Duration: 17 months
Portfolio: Climate Policy
Purpose of the grant: The project aims to increase the political ambition in view of the climate emergency in Brazil, building a participatory dialogue of the multi-stakeholders, via IES Brasil, for the review of the NDC in 2021 and its presentation at COP26. It also seeks to react to anti-environmental acts and policies, to reestablish the democratic climate governance in the medium term in Brazil, and the institutional strengthening of the Talanoa Institute.

Purpose of the grant: To provide effective legal responses, based on the socio-environmental and climate framework, to the mining projects and legal initiatives that are barriers to energy transition in Rio Grande do Sul. The grant will strengthen the operation of civil society to organize and monitor strategic actions, and support the legal system in the monitoring of the implementation of state climate policies.

Portfolio: Urban Amazon
Purpose of the grant: In order to strengthen and highlight the socioeconomic role of the Protected Areas and Urban Quilombos in Amapá, the project will diagnose the socio-productive chains of these communities to support the discussion using more consistent public policies, with local social, economic and environmental development. Along with the people and the territories, the project will provide for the creation of community plans.

Sociedade Paraense de Defesa dos Direitos Humanos
Duration: 6 months
Portfolio: Urban Amazon
Purpose of the grant: The 3rd solidarity campaign of SDDH aims to help 556 families in a state of social vulnerability via the distribution of basic food parcels, hygiene materials, financial support for the Defenders of Human Rights, the making of face masks, and information campaigns for the prevention of COVID-19 in the metropolitan region of Belém, and in the communities in Xingu, Tapajós, and Salgado.

Purpose of the grant: 90-minute documentary film by Jorge Bodanzky. It accompanies doctors and researchers investigating mercury contamination in the Amazon today. This film recalls the events of Minamata in Japan, while unraveling the real size of this threat to the forest and its inhabitants.
